On a rare road trip, your Toronto Benchwarmers came ready to play at the newly renovated Maple Leaf Gardens … the former home of Toronto’s (not so) favourite sports franchise… the Leafs…and the last place they won the Stanley Cup – almost 48 years ago.

Goalie Youval Zilberberg got the call to play with Tony the Goalie out for the evening. Yours truly was also unable to play due to a scheduling conflict with his FOUNDATIONS  OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY AND SOCIAL MEDIA class commitment.

The goal scoring came early and fast for the Benchers. James Blatt #12 scored his first of season with help from Jeff Morris #88. By the time the first period was over your Benchwarmers were up 3 – 0.

The onslaught continued in the second period as the Benchwarmers continued to press the Cyclones. Halfway through the period Rob Yoshida #99 scored his second of the night with James Becke #4 and Lee Silver #47b picking up the helpers.

By the end of the second period The Benchwarmers had scored six unanswered goals.

The Cyclones tried to mount a comeback early in the third but the Benchwarmers were just too strong. With a valiant final effort the red team managed to negate Zilberberg’s shutout with less than 35 seconds remaining in the game proving once again, the game ain’t over ’till… well you know the rest.
